Bracelet mounting

Bracelet mounting and adjusting Type H

Adjustment the length of the bracelet

If you are unfamiliar with the length adjustment of your solid bracelet, please contact Guinand directly.

Determine the relative lengths of the two sides before adjusting the length of the bracelet. To ensure maximum comfort, both sides of the bracelet should contain the same number of links. If this is not possible, the top bracelet strap (above the 12 on the clock) should be longer.

It is not necessary to detach the solid bracelet from the watch or the clasp.

Select links

To ensure maximum comfort, both sides of the bracelet should contain the same number of links.

Remove the screws

Remove the screws with two matching slotted screwdrivers

Removed link

A link of the bracelet with the screw.

First and foremost: Put a soft underlay under your watch - this will prevent damage to your watch and the rolling away of small parts.

  1. Loosen the screws on the side of the bracelet link which is to be removed or added. For this you need two matching slotted screwdrivers (blade minimum width 1.4 mm, maximum blade 2 mm). It needs a screwdriver, as used by watchmakers. Precision screwdrivers should not be used, they are usually much too large and damage the screws and the bracelet.
  2. Attach these screwdrivers to the left and right of the screw of the tape part to be removed.
  3. Remove the superfluous bracelet link or insert a new one.
  4. Before screwing tight, add a small drop (no more!) of thread-locker supplied by Guinand (Note the safety note at the end of this manual) to the thread of the bracelet screw.
  5. Hand-tighten the screw.

Fine adjustment the length of the bracelet

The Guinand solid strap clasp has 4 holes that allow the strap length to be varied in increments of 3 mm. If the length of the bracelet must be varied more widely, a length change of approximately 10 mm can be made by removing or inserting bracelet link elements.

Mounting the bracelet

Mounting Type H (Series II) - Bracelet with quick-change system

First and foremost: Put a soft underlay under your watch - this will prevent damage to your watch and the rolling away of small parts.

  1. Place the watch face down on the soft surface
  2. Press the two operating buttons of the quick-change spring bar towards the middle of the bracelet.
  3. The two pins of the quick-change spring bar must now be flush with the end piece of the metal strap.
  4. Slide the end piece of the metal strap between the two horns from below.
  5. Now release the two pins. The pins must now snap into the holes in the horns. You can easily see whether the pins are correctly engaged - in this case the two operating buttons of the quick-change spring bar are located exactly opposite the two circular markings on the underside of the end piece of the metal strap.

Remove bracelet with quick-change system

  1. Place the watch face down on the soft surface
  2. Press the two operating buttons of the quick-change spring bar towards the middle of the bracelet.
  3. While holding the two operation buttons pressed together, slide the metal band out of the watch band horns toward the bottom of the watch.

Mounting Type H (Series I)

To mount the Guinand solid belt, you need a narrow watchmaker screwdriver or even better, a high-quality strap changing tool.

First and foremost: Put a soft underlay under your watch - this will prevent damage to your watch and the rolling away of small parts.

  1. Place the watch face down on the soft surface
  2. Remove the spring bar for fine adjustment of the bracelet width on the clasp
  3. The solid band is now in two parts in front of you and can be attached to the case of the watch.
  4. To be on the safe side, tape the band horns with insulating / adhesive tape - this protects against scratches during assembly.
  5. Put the bracelet between the horns from below (spring bar looks out of the end of the bracelet on both sides).
  6. On one side push the spring bar into the strap so that it disappears between the horns.
  7. On the other side, use a screwdriver or good spring-type tool to press the spring bar between the second horn.
  8. Check the seat of the bracelet on the housing - the two spring bars must be inserted in the holes.
  9. Insert the spring bar for fine adjustment of the bracelet width on the clasp

Spring bars for mounting the solid strip on the watch

Together with the Guinand bracelet, suitable spring bars are supplied for mounting on the watch. Please use only these spring bars! Each time you change the bracelet, new, matching and high-quality spring bars should be used. Wrong spring bars can cause the bracelet to become loose during use or a later remove of the bracelet from the watch can become very difficult without causing damage to the watch case.

For housings of the series 40 and 41 from year of construction 2016 (recognizable by the serial number 2190 and higher) or with english language engravings on the back or serial number greater 2000 the suitable spring stays of the type B23 are 19 mm, 1.8 mm diameter

For older housing (recognizable by the chamfer on the lug upper side) the solid bracelet is unfortunately not suitable without modification of the lug bores.
