The Watch

With the HS109, Guinand continues the tradition of annually releasing HS models in honor of Helmut Sinn. This exclusive model is a reinterpretation of classic "skin diver" watches from the 1960s – timepieces created for adventures in and under water. Every detail of this watch reflects the spirit of that era: the satin gloss black dial with applied, oversized diamond indices at 12, 6, and 9 o'clock, luminous dagger indices, and the characteristic arrow hands. The design is one of the rarest in the history of the collaboration between Guinand and Helmut Sinn and has been faithfully reinterpreted.

The HS109 embodies what has always distinguished Guinand – functional precision, clear design, and uncompromising quality. Its stainless steel case with 30 bar water resistance, double-domed sapphire crystal, and modern sealing system make it a true sports watch "Made in Frankfurt." The proven ETA 2824-2 movement in a gold-plated finish is finely regulated in our workshop and guarantees maximum reliability.

Limited to 109 individually numbered pieces, the HS109 is not only a tribute to Helmut Sinn's pioneering spirit but also an expression of timeless craftsmanship. A watch that uniquely connects the past and present – authentic, functional, and unmistakably Guinand.

The Dial

The deep black, satin gloss dial of the HS109 echoes the design of classic sports and dive watches from the 1960s. Particularly striking are the applied, oversized diamond-shaped hour markers at 12, 6, and 9 o'clock – a rare design element that gives the watch its distinctive identity.

Their faceted surfaces catch the light, creating a subtle, elegant depth, while the generously applied SuperLuminova© Grade X2 C3 ensures excellent legibility. Combined with the characteristic arrow-shaped hands, the result is a harmonious dial design that unites technical precision and timeless aesthetics.

The Bezel

The bezel of the HS109 combines classic design with modern functionality. Crafted from hardened stainless steel and mounted on a unidirectional ratchet mechanism, it rotates precisely in minute increments. The classic version features a retro insert in the style of the 1960s – a tribute to the watches of that era.

The modern S and M versions, on the other hand, feature our diver's bezel with luminous markings, ensuring excellent readability even in the dark.

The Night View

For the hands and indices of the HS109, we use the currently most powerful luminous pigment, SuperLuminova© Grade X1 C3. The characteristic hour markers at 6, 9, and 12 o'clock have been faithfully reproduced, filled with luminous material, and applied to ensure optimal readability in the dark.

For clear differentiation, we have deliberately made the hour hand shorter and fitted it with a large luminous tip. On the HS109 S and M variants, the bezel is filled with afterglow luminous pigment – for clear orientation even in low light conditions.

The Case

This sports watch is clearly a Guinand model, as the brand's typical DNA is unmistakable. For use in and under water, we have designed the case to withstand a pressure of 30 bar. The case back features a sapphire crystal insert. For maximum water resistance, the G44 is equipped with our FKM-R sealing system for the triple-sealed crown and case back.

The bezel rotates unidirectionally in minute increments and is constructed from stainless steel with a hardened surface. We manufacture the inlay from impact-resistant, hard-coated stainless steel. The markings are milled and filled with white paint. For the front crystal, we use double-domed, anti-reflective coated sapphire crystal.

The Movement

Inside the HS109 beats the tried-and-tested ETA 2824-2 movement, introduced in 1971 – not long after the historical model for this watch was created. The automatic movement is housed in a gold-plated case and combines classic mechanics with modern reliability. The rotor bears the individual limited edition number of each watch.

Each movement is meticulously regulated in five positions at Guinand after installation to ensure the highest possible accuracy. Finally, every HS109 undergoes a multi-day performance test before leaving final inspection – a process that reflects the uncompromising quality philosophy of our manufacture.

Sportliches Paar am Strand

An almost forgotten model from an unforgettable era.

The Case Technology

The screw-down crown with a triple sealing system and flank protection ensures reliable water resistance up to 30 bar. FKM-R sealing system for the crown and case back.

The crown tube is screwed into the middle section of the case, and the diver's rotating bezel is made of stainless steel, hardened to over 1000 Vickers and mounted in the case on a three-point encapsulated ball bearing system.

The Strap

TPU-Band Tropic

TPU-Band Tropic

Sports watches place special demands on the strap – it must be robust, comfortable to wear, and just as high-quality as the watch itself. The HS109 comes standard with a Tropic strap, which captures the authentic vintage character of the 1960s and perfectly complements the watch's design.

The Tropic strap became synonymous with functional sports and dive watches in the 1960s and 70s. It impresses with its water resistance, durability, and high wearing comfort, while its characteristic texture adds a distinctive visual touch.

The Tropic strap is included with every HS109.

Other straps made of leather, rubber, or stainless steel are optionally available, perfectly complementing the individual style and intended use of the HS109.
