Series 155

Frankfurter Masterpiece and “Koenigsblau”– a reinterpretation of the legendary Chronograph's of the 1960s

Guinand Serie 155 in full width

The watch

With our Frankfurter Masterpiece we present a classic chronograph in pure form. The silver-plated dial shines with sunburst decorated surface . The rhodium-plated hour indexes are applied manually. The minute indication is printed in black, contrasting with the minute numbers in a discreet blue.

Koenigsblau (royal blue) - denotes the deep blue color of the dial of this special chronograph. In order to obtain this intense color, the dial is coated in a galvanic process and the hour indices are then applied by hand. The result is a watch that goes perfectly with a casual or elegant outfit.

On the case we also placed a lot of attention. It is finely polished on all sides and is equipped with scratch-resistant crystal glass on the front and back and pressure-resistant and waterproof to 10 bar. The date can be read as an up-to-date addition but is visibly reserved. This elegant-sporty chronograph is powered by a finely decorated automatic swiss chronograph movement.

The details

For the Series 155, we are relying on the already existing design principle of the three-part stainless steel case with screwed back and screwed bezel. Sapphire glass on the front and back protect the high-quality dial and the chronograph movement, decorated with Geneva stripes, against the challenges of everyday life. With its classic dimensions, the “Frankfurt Masterpiece” as well as the “Koenigsblau” are truly masterpieces with balanced proportions, a touch of elegance, genuine understatement - from Frankfurt am Main.

The dial

How to create a truly classical timepiece - everything begins with the dial for which in this case probably only electroplated with sunburst decoration dial comes into question. The chronograph counters are slightly recessed and provided with fine grooves. The printing with scales, hours and minutes in two colors - that means double effort and the one or the other fleeting is not noticeable - but for a really classic watch, this effort is more than justified.

Those who like it sportier will be delighted by the deep and metallic sheen of the royal blue dial. Depending on the incidence of light, the surface shimmers in slightly different shades of blue.

The complexity of both dials is then only surpassed by the appliqués- hand-mounted hour bars, which are riveted to the back of the dial with smallest holes

The Movement

The construction of the SW500 is based on the VJ7750 which has been developed in the 70s of the last century and continuously improved. It is arguably the most robust power source for a mechanical chronograph.

Guinand receives this watch movement produced in Switzerland in a finely finished version with a Glucydur balance. At Guinand, each of these movements is once again adjusted in 5 positions, before the final inspection of the watch concludes with a multi-day running test.
